Ubongo is a Pan-African social enterprise that leverages the power of entertainment, the reach of mass media, rigorous research, and the insights of kid-centered design to bring effective, localized learning to nearly 25 million African families. Its educational content is delivered at low cost and on technology accessible to millions of African children.
Their successful and educational shows—Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me—are available in 11 languages in 40 countries. Ubongo intentionally designs content to be inclusive and empowering for women and girls. Ubongo goes beyond just delivering educational content to ensure that every child can find the fun in learning.
With UNFCU Foundation’s support, Ubongo is furthering its programming focused on the empowerment of women and girls. In particular, the Uwezo na Ubongo Challenge aims to empower girls and caregivers across Kenya and Uganda. The following program on financial literacy, sponsored by UNFCU Foundation, has already reached millions of youth across Africa.
