World Food Programme (WFP) is the world’s largest humanitarian organization saving lives in emergencies. WFP uses food assistance to build a pathway to peace, stability, and prosperity for people recovering from conflict, disasters, and the impact of climate change.

The Kaolack Rural Women Economic Empowerment Program in Senegal is a project that targets women members of the Kayemor Economic Interest Group (GIE). This project is part of the five-year Salouma Program that focuses on: agricultural development through training farmers in modern techniques, youth empowerment, which includes vocational training, entrepreneurship support, and career counseling; partnerships with local organizations to provide funding, technical assistance, and capacity-building efforts, and integrating innovation and technology into agriculture and business practices.

UNFCU Foundation’s support will directly empower 500 members of the Kayemor GIE to participate in income-generating activities. The grant will go towards capacity strengthening for women, equipment purchasing, commercialization and quality improvement support, and monitoring and evaluation of the program. The grant will indirectly impact all 1,449 members of the Kayemor GIE.
