When women have the skills and confidence to become social entrepreneurs, they can have a ripple effect, benefiting their communities. We’re funding the expansion of the Imagine Academy to equip graduates with leadership training, access to capital, and networking through our partner Imagine Her.
Imagine Her is a non-governmental organization that works through community partnerships to empower impoverished women and youth in Uganda. Its Social Enterprise and Innovation Incubator Program, launched in 2017, provides accelerated leadership and social entrepreneurship training. Highlights to date include 220 women graduates increasing their incomes 30% and 60% respectively in the first three and six months since launching their businesses.
Through a partnership with Street Child US, Imagine Her will scale and iterate this program through Imagine Academy.
UNFCU Foundation funding will support the Imagine Academy, enabling 400 women to participate in accelerated, mentored, MBA-style training in business, leadership, and social entrepreneurship. The program expands access to a design lab with cutting-edge technology and learning spaces. It also features mentorships, ongoing coaching, and tailored start-up financing via interest-free loans.
