Privacy Policy
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how the UNFCU Foundation (the Foundation) collects, protects, uses, and shares information and sets forth your privacy rights. We recognize that information privacy is an ongoing responsibility, so we will update this Privacy Policy from time to time as we undertake new personal data practices or adopt new privacy policies.
Types of Personal Information We Collect
Personal Information means personally identifiable information such as information you provide via forms, applications, or other online fields. This includes names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses. Personal information also includes sensitive information you provide to us via secure channels, including the account information you provide when donating.
How the Foundation Obtains Personal Information
In most cases, you provide us with your personal data directly. We also learn about you from your use of our systems, interactions with our communications, and our other dealings with you.
Why We Process Your Personal Information
We use information you have provided to us to:
- Answer your questions
- Request your support
- Comply with legal obligations, government regulations, and reporting requirements
- Inform you about our fundraising campaigns, events, and activities

- Process applications and transactions, including donations and grant disbursals
In some cases, we rely on your consent as the legal basis for processing your personal information. If we do rely on your consent we will make this clear to you at the time we ask for your consent.
How We Protect Your Information
To help protect the privacy of data and personally identifiable information you transmit to the Foundation, we maintain physical, technical, and administrative safeguards. We update and test our security technology on an ongoing basis. We restrict access to your personal information to those people who need to know that information.
Our website is protected with Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption. This prevents an unauthorized individual or party from simultaneously viewing the same pages that you are viewing. In addition, we maintain administrative, technical, and physical security measures such as computer safeguards and secured files and buildings to protect your personal information from unauthorized access and use.
Where the Foundation Processes Your Personal Information
The Foundation operates from the United Nations Federal Credit Union (UNFCU) headquarters in New York, USA. By providing the Foundation with your personal information, you consent to the transfer of that information to the United States for processing and storage on our data servers in the United States.
The United States has not sought nor received a finding of “adequacy” from the European Union under Article 45 of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The Foundation relies on derogations for specific situations as set forth in Article 49 of the GDPR. In particular, the Foundation collects and transfers to the US personal information only with your consent, to perform a contract with you, or to fulfill a compelling legitimate interest of the Foundation in a manner that does not outweigh your rights and freedoms. The Foundation endeavors to apply suitable safeguards to protect the privacy and security of your personal information and to use it only consistent with your relationship with the Foundation and the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
When and How We Share Information with Others
The personal information the Foundation collects from you is stored in one or more databases hosted by UNFCU or its contracted third parties located in the United States. These third parties do not use or have access to your personal information for any purpose other than cloud storage, retrieval, or to facilitate a transaction.
The Foundation does not sell or share donor lists. We sometimes share the information we collect from and about you with third parties, only to process that information in accordance with this policy. Those third parties include government regulators, external auditors, cloud-based application providers, and UNFCU.
How Long We Keep Your Personal Information
We keep your personal information for as long as is necessary for the purposes of:
- Our relationship with you or your Organization
- Performing an agreement with you or your Organization
- Complying with a legal or regulatory obligation
- Internal administrative or security needs
Children’s Personal Information
The Foundation does not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 13 without parental consent.
How the UNFCUFoundation.org Website Uses Personal Information
Like most other websites, the Foundation’s website automatically collects and stores certain information. The information includes internet protocol (IP) addresses; the region or general location where your computer or device is accessing the internet; browser type; operating system; and other information about the use of the Foundation’s website, including a history of the pages you view. We use this information to help us design our site to better suit our users’ needs. We also use your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server and to administer our website, analyze trends, track navigation, and gather broad demographic information that assists us in identifying visitor preferences. The Foundation’s website also uses cookies. It does not track you when you cross to third party websites, does not provide targeted advertising to you, and therefore does not respond to Do Not Track (DNT) signals.
(A) GENERAL WEBSITE PAGES
When you browse the Foundation’s website, you browse anonymously. Personal information—such as your name, address, phone number, or email address—is not collected as you browse.
(B) ONLINE TRACKING AND “DO NOT TRACK”
The Foundation uses “cookies” for the purpose of tracking the number of visitors to the various pages of our website to provide improved service. A cookie is a small piece of data created by a website that provides a way for a website to recognize you and keep track of your preferences. The use of cookies makes your online experience easier and more personal. If you want to limit our use of cookies or enable a “Do Not Track” signal or similar mechanism, please refer to your browser settings. You can delete cookies that have already been sent within your browser settings. Please note that by disabling certain cookies or enabling your web browser’s “Do Not Track” signal or similar mechanism, some of our online features and content may not work properly or be accessible.
We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors engage with our website. For information on how Google uses the data it collects, and how to control the information sent to Google, please visit Google’s Privacy & Terms. We occasionally use Google AdWords for online advertising. Google AdWords uses cookies to serve ads based on your past visits to our online services. To opt out of Google’s use of cookies, please visit Google’s Ads Settings.

The Foundation will disclose online when information is being collected for transfer to or use by other parties. Please note that by accessing a link that appears on the Foundation’s website, which redirects you to a website hosted by another party, you will no longer be subject to or under the protection of the Foundation’s privacy and security policies. We are not responsible for other websites’ content, any use of other websites, or the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage you to read and evaluate the privacy and security policies on the sites you are entering, which may be different than ours.

Updates to the Privacy Policy
As the UNFCU Foundation’s approach to fulfilling its mission changes from time to time, this Privacy Policy is expected to change as well. We reserve the right to amend the Privacy Policy at any time, for any reason, without notice to you, other than the posting of the amended Privacy Policy to this website. We may email periodic reminders of our privacy policies and may notify supporters of material changes thereto, but you should check our website frequently to see the current Privacy Policy that is in effect and any changes that may have been made to it. The Foundation will revise the effective date stated at the bottom of this page when any material changes to this policy are made.
