Improving the Lives of Adolescent Girls in Marginalized Communities
Girl Up is a leadership development program focused on creating equity for girls and women in spaces where they are underrepresented. Created by the UN Foundation in 2010, its programs impact girls in nearly 130 countries and all 50 US states.
Through these programs, Girl Up provides leadership development training designed to help girls be gender justice advocates. While curriculums are driven by specific country contexts and needs, they all prioritize improving self-confidence and supporting long-term aspirations.
With UNFCU Foundation’s support, Girl Up is providing 900 adolescent girls in three communities in Kenya with Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) education. These girls will also have access to Adolescent Sexual and Reproductive Health (ASRH) programs.
